Hi all!! So sorry I accidentally sent twice! It didn't go through the first time so I sent again, and then the first went through.

There will be a vigil and press conference on Nov. 18 at 6:30 in front of the General Assembly sponsored by Centro Hispano, El Colectivo NC and Mujeres Liderando: https://www.facebook.com/elCentroHispanoNC/posts/pfbid024BUoTykiFuygi5dH1pwnKT9LugGgWBPi7qoXWDe7opiR2zwygPHwKDSXgKFCKcT2l

I can't go, but perhaps someone here will be able to attend.

re: organizations doing good work, I am very involved in Crooked Media's Vote Save America. They are a clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities across the country, including in NC. The head of Vote Save America is North Carolinian Shaniqua McClendon, so they have a strong focus on NC.

they have a great Slack situation -- which has a robust NC channel.

For those interested in deep canvassing training, I highly recommend the Deep Canvass Institute 3-session training. A deep dive with lots of opportunity to practice. This is offered a few times a year. Next one is held on Feb 25, Feb 26 and Mar 1. Sign up for all 3 sessions at: https://www.mobilize.us/peoplesaction/event/744476/. I've done this several times and learned a lot.

There is also a one session introduction on Mar 25. Sign up at: https://www.mobilize.us/peoplesaction/event/744499/

Please, can we move away from outlets like the Atlantic and the Bulwark? Harris just ran a campaign precisely tailored to their prescriptions and it completely crashed and burned. Outlets focused on anti-woke hand wringing, and those run by Never Trump republicans, have less than nothing to offer. We need a theory of electoral politics from people who didn't get us into this mess in the first place!

I just canceled my subscription to the News & Observer, which makes me sad. BUT I increased my subscription to the Assembly - which has hired a few refugees from the News & Observer & does excellent reporting. https://www.theassemblync.com

I really like Bryan Anderson's substack Anderson Alerts. https://andersonalerts.substack.com

And WUNC overall, their podcast Due South (especially the Friday episode, plus Colin Campbell's Politics newsletter. https://www.wunc.org/people/colin-campbell

Mastodon is a non oligarch owned micro blogging platform. Anyone on Mastodon can follow me (I don't post a lot, but I have good accounts to follow) at @DePasoPorEsteMundo@mastodon.social. If you are on BlueSky, and you want to be followable from Mastodon, say something and I will post instructions, it's easy but from BlueSky it's opt in and not a default there.
